Our heroes

It is a great honor for us to introduce you to our 4 patrons who want to help us make a promo video that will help us spread awareness about the project among other children and future donors and sponsors.

On 16.6 Davidek, Nelinka and Zuzanka will arrive in Málaga for a week. The fourth patron is Martinka, who cannot come to us at the moment due to her health condition, but as soon as her health improves, she is looking forward to arriving with the other children.

My name is Nelča and I am 12 years old.

After returning from Norway, where I lived and went to school with my parents and sister, I started to lose a lot of weight in the summer of 2019, when I was less than 9 years old. The doctors tried to find out what was happening to me, and in November of the same year they diagnosed me with pilocytic astrocytoma (glioma of the optic nerve, chiasma, with thalamus infiltration). At the University Hospital in Motol, a port was inserted and chemotherapy was started. It was given to me for 81 weeks (1.5 years). For me, it meant, every week, every Tuesday, to go either to the University Hospital in Motol or later to the rotation to the University Hospital in Hradec Králové, which we are closer, for one dose of chemotherapy. At that time, Covid was "raging", so I experienced quarantine like other children. In parallel with chemotherapy, I sometimes suffer from other health problems (e.g. malignant melanoma, eye surgery). To this day, I go for check-ups to many doctors who check my general condition (MR á 1/2 year, endocrinology, gynecology, ophthalmology,..).

I have been going to ballet since I was 5 years old and I love to travel and now I mainly take pictures. I would like to devote myself to photography one day, even professionally.

My name is Martinka and I am 5 years old.

Hello, my name is Martina Hyža and I have been treating my little Mika for 3 years at the paediatric oncology in Motol. Martinka's arrival into the world was not easy either. It is, a very big struggle, I am going with you on this long, painful, thorny road. I know how you feel, I know how afraid you are, I know how much uncertainty there is, how much pain there is on that path, I know what your greatest wish is...... Therefore, it is important to provide any support, to give courage, strength to go further.  I got an amazing offer to fly to the sea, I always wanted it very much, but unfortunately so far the state of health does not allow us. Dear children and parents, take advantage of this opportunity to fly for a curative stay in Spain - Málaga right by the sea. We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts all those involved in this project. Good luck in life wish you Martinky Hyžů.

My name is Zuzanka and I am 13 years old.

My parents were in a good mood, my dad finally started working after two surgeries and an illness he had been treating at home for 8 months. My mom was supposed to drive me to school, but my nose started to bleed and wouldn't stop, so my mom took me to the hospital just in case. There, after blood tests, I was diagnosed with leukemia. My world was turned upside down. I went straight to the hospital and started chemotherapy, which lasted almost two years. This was followed by biological treatment. So from the age of 10 to 12 I spent alternately in the hospital in Ústí nad Labem, in Motol in Prague and at home. Fortunately, I was able to do most of the chemotherapy on an outpatient basis, and because it was "covid", for a while the teaching was online from home, and I, even though I couldn't go to school, could join in from my computer. The acute lymphoblastic leukemia I was diagnosed with, i.e., its treatment, gave me a hard time. Although I am now cured, I have a lot of sequelae and I go to many different doctors for check-ups frequently. The biggest problem for me is gymnastics, which I used to love, but now that I have osteoporosis after chemotherapy, I am not very good at it. I mean, almost not at all. But I'm sure it'll get better in time, I'm not giving up...

My name is Vašík and I am 5 years old.

I was born to my mother on 3.8.2018 I was a healthy and smart little boy from 1,5 years old I went to the nursery and in September 2021 I started kindergarten as a big boy. My back was hurting a lot and I couldn't stand on my feet. Our best and most caring doctor took a blood sample from my finger and sent it to the lab ... on this day 30.9.2021... on this day she knew the result that we have low blood cells . She sent me and my mother to the Hematooncology Hospital in Pilsen to have our blood checked again and to have various tests and blood transfusions. I cried a lot, but I had my mother there so I knew I was safe and that they just wanted to help me and find out why I was no longer the little guy who used to go on the playground and ride his bike.1 .10.2021 worst day. In the morning I went for a bone marrow check and unfortunately it was confirmed that I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Our family's world was turned upside down and they couldn't imagine what was waiting for us and how it could turn out. I am currently six months out of treatment and am slowly returning to normal life. My immunity is still weakened from all the years I went through, but I believe that everything will be good and nothing so bad will come back.

My name is Davidek, I am 6 years old.

When I was three years old, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I had 2 years of chemotherapy, which initially helped, but immediately after the end of the treatment, the tumor began to grow rapidly again. Therefore, Davidek has been in treatment since April 2023, now he is testing the effect of a new drug (biological therapy). Davidek enjoys travelling, cycling, he also likes to build Lego, listen to audio fairy tales and have the magazine Čtyřlístek read.

My name is Emme and I am 13 years old.

We are a family of four from North Moravia. 13 years old Emča, 16 years old Luky, mom and dad. One day our life changed completely from one day to the next, when a few years ago Emcha was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in the Brno Children's Hospital. She went through a long treatment with a lot of complications. It was a very difficult time for all of us. But in the end, everything turned out well and Emička was a healthy girl again.Last year, however, she developed serious psychological problems and so we struggled again. Luky and his sister have a great relationship, which became even stronger during Emci's illness. We love music, travelling, sightseeing, the sea and the mountains and we do everything we can together. We recently discovered Children's Harbor by complete accident. Thanks to the wonderful people at the foundation, we have the opportunity to take a break from everyday life and worries and regain new energy.

Have a nice dayTřískal
